Social Engineering is a type of attack that relies on human interaction; a psychological manipulation of people into performing actions or divulging confidential information to gather information to conduct fraud or system access.  Social Engineering can happen in many scenarios and expands beyond a computer, such as telephone calls or someone trying to physically access an area without authorization (tailgating).

Windows registry errors are a result of broken file paths, missing extensions and basically any interruption in our operating system. Downloading free trials and new software is a common practice for any computer owner. But, erasing unwanted programs is not as easy as the install process. There are plenty of things to keep in mind before we click delete. Too many things could accidentally be removed from your computer, which is not a good thing at all. Anti virus programs can help protect your computer system from errors.

For many of us, when we see a program we don't recall or see a file we deem unimportant, were quick to delete and erase it. What many of us don't realize is: these seemingly harmless actions can result in headaches and errors further down the line.

Throughout the world of computers, it’s simply amazing just how many people are scared to death of losing their data.  Most of those who are scared, don’t give a second thought to backing up their data.  Even though the thought may be the same, most people are worried more about losing their data than actually backing it up - which can prove to be a downfall in the face of disaster.

The process of backing up files is done by using servers, floppy disks, CD, DVD, external hard drives, or other methods to keep the data protected.  This way, when something happens to your hard drive and you lose your information, you’ll have the information backed up so that you can easily access it again.  Data that is important, such as tax files or business records should always be backed up, to ensure that nothing happens to it.

Are you the parent of a teenager or a younger child who uses the internet?  If you are, is your computer and the internet protected with parental controls?  If not, this is something that you will want to do.  Although many children are able to use the internet without running into any problems, like online harassment or communicating with an online predator, are you really willing to take the chance?  If not, you should use parental controls.

 

One of the many reasons why you should set parental controls is because you can protect your child when they are online.  Although parental controls come in a number of different formats, most allow you to block websites that you don’t want your child to view.  This means that if you don’t want your child to use MySpace or other social networking websites you can easily block them.
